AFQ is a quality certification mark of the FoodOxys company, which introduces a new, ground-breaking system for evaluating, comparing, and ranking the quality of food products based on bioactivity.

The process

AFQ Scores years logoEach food product is subjected to laboratory analysis in order to evaluate the antioxidant activity as a reliable indicator of bioactivity.
Laboratory analysis yields a distinct score, i.e., AFQ score, ranging from 8-20.
The higher the AFQ score, the greater the antioxidant activity and bioactivity of the food product.
Methodology logo

AFQ compares products of the same food category, e.g., an EVOO with another EVOO, providing the consumer with the information that the product is laboratory tested, of good quality and offers health benefits.

The AFQ certification mark is property of FoodOxys PC, a spin-off company of the University of Thessaly, which has registered it to the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
