It is naturally produced within the human body and, at high levels, can cause serious damage to critical biomolecules.
Total polyphenol content (TPC)
It is expressed in mg gallic acid equivalents (GAE) per ml or g of sample. The higher the value, the greater the concentration of bioactive compounds.
IC50 value
It is expressed in μl/ml of reaction or mg/ml of reaction. It represents the sample concentration required to scavenge 50% of the corresponding free radical. The lower the value, the higher the antioxidant activity.
